Ice Plant

Ice Plant with Cottage Cheese
This is an interesting plant called "ice plant," which contains salt in these beads-like things called bladder cells. Here, this ice plant seems to be gaining popularity as a vegetable rather than an ornamental plant. I just love the crispiness of these leaves. :)

It's Never Too Late to Make a New Start

Black mushroom spaghetti, Japanese style

"It's never too late to make a new start."
That's what I have been telling myself over and over for the past couple of weeks.
And it must be what many -- so many -- people in Japan want to believe in now.

It's been more than a month since that terrible earthquake hit north-eastern part of Japan. On April 11th, at our workplace, we observed one minute of silence to pray for the victims. I guess most people did the same throughout Japan on that day.

Like I wrote before, the quake, tsunami and the nuclear power plant accident did not cause damage directly to our region. But we all have been affected in some way or another, I would say. And I have to admit that, in my case, it must have triggered some unfinished issues from my experience of Kobe Earthquake in 1995. After that earthquake, things looked really hard around me, including my work, family and everything -- and in late March, I told my boss that I wanted to quit my job. But after all, I decided to stay, and I'm still working the same job with a couple of newcomers.

On the other hand, at home, dad decided that he was too weak that he had to move to a room that is closer to the restroom, so he told me to swap rooms with him. Well, he has been healthy enough to visit several hospitals, looking for a doctor who says there is something wrong with him. And he is also healthy enough to move some furniture while moving his stuff into my room -- no, my ex room and his new room. But according to him, he can hardly walk and needs to buy a new bed. Anyway, moving into a new room did make me feel good to some extent, except that dad's closet smells like naphthalene moss balls. :(

I'm going to have to face soooooooo many challenges. Hope I don't have to face them all alone.

The photo above shows the spaghetti I had for lunch today. It was OK. The important thing is that I didn't feel like shooting a food photo when I was going through a hard time, but today I felt like it.
One step forward. ;)

BTW, thank you so much for your kind comments to my previous blog. Sorry I only responded to about half of them, but I truly appreciated all of them. Honestly.
